I'm so proud of you girl!! I have seeing videos of some Spanish girls that had no idea how to peel off a green plantain. And you did it perfectly just how we make it in Costa Rica. But we called patacones!! Loving this.
You did an awesome job cutting those plantains! In Panama we call them patacones and that's how I love my patacones a little bit sweet
By the way, where can I get that tostonera? Will love to make those baskets for serving ceviche!!!!
I love your video the plantains look so good great job!
Texas girl making tostones! I have seen it all! Next time show them the sweet plantain recipe. We Puerto Ricans call them amarillos (no, not the Texas beloved pet).
Mixing Puerto Rican and Mexican food. I don't think that's a good idea. LOL Where can I get one of those wooden things to flatten the tostones?
oh dear. you would never make tostones with platanos that are that yellow… the platanos she has you would fry up just in chunks and serve them with food. and thats not how u say tostonera lmao
A to nie mozna zjesc poprostu surowego banana?!
that "hideous being" is a maduro which is a ripe plantain. Tostones are made with green plantain two different things but it was a good attempt being that your not spanish
Hi. My Nana's from Cuba, and she used to mash them between two small brown paper lunch bags. Remember those things in school? Then once done, she'd sprinkle them with an even amount of salt and sugar. Gave it a sweet and sour kind of taste. Lord I miss her cooking. She's 98 years old, and still going strong, but we're severlal states away from each other, so I don't get to have her dishes too often…
Thought i was the only one who got slightly offended when she said "hideous thing"
For a non Venezuelan this is a good attempt in making tostones such a traditional Venezuelan dish. If I want to be a bit picky the first 3 are not tostones and the Tostoniera might be something invented in the USA because in Venezuela it doesn't exist as tostones are flat not cup chaped. Is nice when you see people from other countries making dishes from your cuisine.
Uma Thurman
That is not a hideous thing it is a platano and should be treated with respect.
this chick isn't chef material at all….
why does everyone go to so much trouble with plantains. you just cut the ends off and wrap the whole thing in a paper towel. then you microwave it 2-3 minutes on each side. serve with brown sugar.
Is this some sort of joke? Tostones are made with green plantains and it is not a hideous thing, it is a beautiful tropical food. If this was meant to be cultural crossover it missed the mark.
I first tried baked plantains in my university's dining hall and they were actually pretty good! They tasted like a sweet potato married a banana and had a baby. I have not tried them fried, but I bet they'd be even better!
I can't freaking believe all these negative comments, instead of congratulating her for embracing our culture , you criticize her… shame on you….
You did a great job honey, God bless You.
"Hideous being"… Its so ironic that a "pale skinned being" would refer to a meal staple fruit as a "Hideous being" when infact all over the world thats EXACTLY what many nations thought of when they saw white skin… Thats the kind of offensive thought a "foreign" plantain eater might be thinking. Choose your words wisely.
You're awesome
You cut them too small
Are you single?
