Oh what a lovely treat. I loved your👗looked perfect for lemon picking+lunch. For the ants I spray peppermint or sage oil with alcohol(or detol) around the area they pop up in and that always does the trick

ants will change their habits if there is powder always present that they have to walk through. You can follow their paths and see where they are coming in and keep drawing lines with chalk across their path/ around their opening. If it's a horizontal surface, baby powder. They won't walk through it. They will go and make their path somewhere else. We have lots of ants in the ground around our house and we will never 'get rid of them', but fine powder like baby powder and chalk, as well as pouring vinegar into their openings will make them change their habits and not go inside. This is from years of experience.

Hi Nicky, We have had good success with Diatemacious Earth. A naturally occuring substance, the one we get is able to taken (edible) but lethal to insects like fleas and ants. You might already know about it, but if not, could be worth a try. Kate from NZ.

Glad your mom is looking and is doing well. It was so nice to see your mom and glad you had some time with her. Wow the grass certainly grew very quickly in the month you were gone there in Tuscany. The ant situation…… i was bothered that ants were ruining my apple tree. I read somewhere on yt to get a litre bottle put in about a cup of sugar same with water and about 6 tablespoons of Borax. Turn it on its side and shake a little so it all combines . Dont have it too wet as the secret is for the ants to be attracted to the sugar and they take it back to the nest along with the Borax and it kills them. Lying on its side cut a couple of small holes into the plastic for them to get in and carry back the sugar, borax back to the nest. I dont like the thought of that but needs must . I only had 9 apples last year as they ruined them. This year last count i had over thirty perfect growing apples. If you lie the bottle on the top shelf that should attract them . For ants try cinnamon on powder. IT worked amazingly on my home. But use quite a lot cinnamon, around their nests outside, and im places where they come in. Good luck❤
