Hi all,

I love coffee, and it's my dream to open a coffee shop myself one day. I've been to coffee shops worldwide, and I've always been surprised at how coffee shops in any country other than the USA seem to have so much more character and soul.

For example, look at this coffee shop I went to just the other day in Miami, FL.

It's generic, nothing exciting about it, but it's popular.

Now compare that to a coffee shop that was in my building when I was in Vietnam: Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3

Mind you – There are an infinite number of cafes in Vietnam with the same aesthetic. They all feel very lived in and have character.

If I ever opened a coffee shop in the USA, I'd go for the aesthetic I've seen abroad. Why do you think it's so rare to find something like that in the USA?

  • Is the cost just incredibly inhibitive?
  • Is it a matter of ignorance of what exists in other countries?
  • Is it an attempt to play it safe?
