I decided to try and get my sourdough as close to a store-bought loaf as possible. I bought a cast iron loaf tin with lid (that came with a proving basket) and an electric bread slicer from Amazon. Game changer!

Recipe
80g sourdough starter
250g water
350g bread flour
7g salt

Add everything but salt, wait 30 mins, add salt and form into a ball.

Stretch and fold

Room temp prove 3 hours
Cold prove over night
Oven to 220c
Put in Dutch oven
Baked 205c 20 min lid on and 20 min lid off

The electric slicer made me chuckle. This is like taking an ax to a rose bush. 😆

Looks sooooo good. My husband has been saying we should get a bread slicer for all the bread I’ve been making! 😂

Ooo where did you get the loaf tin and matching proofing basket?

What brand of slicer? I have a hand cranking one and I’m tired of it already, lol.

I’m pretty damn jealous of this. Could you link to that loaf pan?

Both bought from Amazon UK although the loaf pan came from Germany:

    Slicer:

There were a lot of options for the slicer so that should be quite easy to get from any country. I went with a 200W one over the 150W as I thought more power would be better given how tough the crust can be. I think the main issue will be the cutting blade size is likely to be smaller than a round loaf diameter, that’s why I got the loaf pan, the bread slices are quite small but you get a lot out of a loaf so I’ll just have more of them.
