This plant came from the same tray of young jalapeño plants from the nursery. The rest of the jalapeños on the other plants appear to be normal jalapeño size. Did I get a different type of jalapeño or is this plant judt more susceptible to producing larger fruit?

It could be a cross with some other kind of pepper, maybe a bell pepper.

Could be a cross, could be just a genetic mutation (more common)

  3. This heat has pretty much stopped my pepper growth completely.

Any other peppers on that particular plant to compare to?

Coconut Banana for scale. I halfway understand the size of this jalapeño.

My Gigante II plant has peppers about the same size.

I’ve got some Jalp’s I grow every year that put out big pods. Perfect for poppers. I grow many different Jalapenos. I have two favorites. One that always has both white and purple flowers on the same plant. Great flavor. The other is from seeds I got in West Africa. Heat and flavor 🤤🌶️

I grew “gigantic” jalapeño seeds this year and all the fruit is average.

What’s that thing next to the pepper? The thing you’re using to show the size?
