This is my jalapeno plant I've transplanted into the 18" pot couple weeks ago.
Then a few days. The stem or base of the plant turned from green to brown.
Is this normal when the seedling is reaching adolescent stages?

    That’s completely normal, happens to pretty much every pepper seedling. It will turn back to a greenish woody color when the plant is bigger.

    I don’t even understand what I am looking at here.

    Appears to be a yellow leaf growing out of a previously pruned point on a woody stem?

    Where is the rest of the plant?
