Had my Joe Jr for a few months, and everytime there are a lot of broken pieces mixed with ashes after cool down at the bottom pit. Never seem to have as much in other grill. I use a charcoal basket.
Is it a common experience? And if so, do you reuse them? (Picture after one cook, I took 3/4 of the pieces out to reuse, because why not…?)

Not a common occurrence but I use small chunks in the junior all the time. I use whatever is left and top off with new. You might want to check your seals using a dollar bill to ensure you have a good seal. Might save you from burning up all your lump/crumps after a meal.

Have this every time. They are hat smaller then the basket “weave”. Depends in my mood ill throw them with the rest of the ash onto plants or pick out the bigger pieces and add them on top the next cook
I use them in my junior, I throw the small ones out so it doesn’t clog the holes and restrict airflow.
