    Looks like you could stew the meat like a braise or bourguignon (which can be adapted for a slow cooker). The bread, carrots, and pasta would be prepared separately.

    I would follow the instructions as written but reduce beer to 1 1/2 cups, until the point you put it in the oven. Instead, put in the slow cooker on low for 8 hours.
