12 grain bread $4, cream cheese $2, tomatoes $2.50, lettuce $2, bacon $4, English cucumber $1.50. This served five people, with leftover veg and bread.

Cook the bacon with your preferred method and crispness. I did mine for twenty five minutes at 400 in the oven until crispy.

Set the cream cheese out to slightly soften for fifteen minutes while the bacon is cooking.

Thinly slice the tomato and cucumber, and season the tomato with a light sprinkle of salt.

Peel bread sized pieces from the lettuce, or shred as desired.

Assemble in whatever orientation you fancy. Enjoy!

Nice. That looks great. I’d eat that even if I had unlimited money.

Don’t get me wrong, that looks delicious, but how is $3.20 far a sandwich “budget”? That’s how much poor value for money TV dinners cost, and you’re arguably getting a comparable amount of food.

You’re effectively at 10 dollars a day at least if this is what a single sandwich averages. And I would not consider $10+ a day, aka 300+ a month (per person) on sustenance a very “budget” friendly option.

BLTs for the win here tonight, too. Tomatoes were free from a neighbor.

I had a delicious BLT for dinner last night!

I love a BLT. Sometimes I mix garlic and herbs in with my mayo if I’m feeling extra fancy (and have herbs growing at the moment).

That looks absolutely amazing! I could eat that every single day. Add an egg for a delicious breakfast sandwich.

Underrated and overlooked, a absolutely brilliant move to add sliced cucumbers.

throw a fried egg on for extra protein, it’s so good and a cheap way to mix up your sandwich

Just pay for half the ingredients next time and get it half off

God damn cucumbers??? That’s absolutely genius on a BLT.

BLT with cream cheese. That’s different!!
    Now I gotta try this!!

I pretty much always get BOGO’s on thick cut bacon and BLT is one of my happy place lunches!!

Oh that looks soooo good! I get cravings even for basic BLTs sometimes. Another good one is Tuna on English muffin toasted with cream cheese and sliced tomatoes 🍅 Suppose you could add bacon to that one too. And one I used to get for lunch a lot was tuna on pumpernickel just with a slice of cheddar cheese. That’s good. And today, I had a snack of celery stalks with cream cheese and I covered them with pecans over the cream cheese. That was a yummy snack. 😋
