Should I pick them as they individually ripen, or should I wait until they all go red? What are the chances of them all ripening together?

I’d pick individually as they ripen. Or anytime after they blush and ripen inside/paper bag.

They won’t all ripen together as some are much more mature than others. When I see them blush I pick them and have them ripen inside, but that’s because I’m competing with hungry locals for my fruit 😂

I’d say it depends on where you are. I have always wait until they were ripe unless we lived in a climate where it was colder or winter came early. If the weather is nice leave ‘em be.
Edit: by the way I’m so jealous of those beautiful tomatoes. Our weather here has not cooperated with growing.

Now. Or else a damn squirrel will take all your tomatoes. Im not still salty at losing half my sun golds this year. Nope not salty at all.

Fried green tomatoes are off the chain!

Pick that red one. It appears it already has a stress mark and might split if you water deeply or get a good rain. Plus, a critter can come along and take a bite out of it before you do.
I always pick at first blush/color break and let ripen on the counter for those very reasons. The tomatoes will taste the exact same as if they finished on the vine but with far less risks.

So all tomatoes fall into one of two categories: interdeterminate and determinate.

Interdeterminate tomatoes are more vine-like and will continuously produce fruit till frost.

Determinate tomatoes are more bush-like and their fruit tends to be ready to harvest all at once.

If you know what variety you have here some googling may show what type your plant is and that can help you determine(hence the names) when the tomatoes will be ready to pick. These look interdeterminate to me. So I’d just pick them when they are red on the plant.

I’d pick the red one, in my neighborhood raccoons or rodents would likely steal it

I never pick them until they have a slight blush. IMO, they won’t develop as much sugar and complexity otherwise, but that is merely observational, and may be variety defendant.

I wait for a blush then pick to brown paper bags

What zone are you in? I’m 7a and my first one just popped out (I have 4 plants).

Wow, I’m jealous, I wish and hope mine looks as good as yours, but yea pick them before the birds do, red attracts birds and they will peck at it
