Our weight fluctuates a lot day to day! There are SO many factors affecting it (maybe you retained more water that day, maybe you had more salt the day before etc etc) which is why checking your weight daily isn’t that reliable and can really demotivate you – I’ve been there too.

Just keep going and I’m sure you’ll see gradual losses!

My Nexplanon makes me retain water and I can gain up to 6 pounds overnight 🥺

    I feel this so much.

Weight loss is a long term commitment. If it was easy, everyone would be skinny.

Key things to keep in mind when weighing yourself. Water weight exist, and do not weigh yourself everyday. Seriously lmao, you’ll drive yourself crazy doing this. I personally like weighing myself once a month. Even then I don’t let the number dictate how I feel. I go by energy levels, and emotions as a way to know if I’m on the right path.

    It’s probably water.

Weigh yourself daily but use something like Happy Scale to smooth your trend line out. As long as it’s going down over time, don’t stress it.

Make sure your food scale is calibrated and make sure you’re using the correct measurements- grams and ounces, not cups or bowls.

You can’t undo however much “damage” you’ve done overnight. I know social media tells us otherwise.

All good points above! I retain water after a workout. Always. It’s common for our bodies to retain water when repairing the damage caused to our muscles during a workout. Plus all the various other reasons for water retention.

I find my most accurate weight is in combination with being off my period/pms, after 2 rest days between exercise days, well-hydrated consistently, and after using the bathroom in the morning, before consuming anything that day.

    Hope this helps.

How long have you been doing it? You gain weight the first week or two because your body knows its hungry and holds on to EVERYTHING. You feel bad and gain weight, but eventually you break it and the weight falls off.

It’s because you worked out!! Scale always goes up a bit when you work out because of the inherent inflammation in muscle-building. If you get upset about one or two pound fluctuations you’re NOT going to make it

You gotta take your average weight over the course of a week or two. I weighed myself everyday and it drove me nuts! It’s just our bodies doing what they’re supposed to. Nothing to worry about

When your fat cells get used they get filled with water before they completely empty and compress. This is the fluctuation you’re frustrated with and why it takes WEEKS TO MONTHS for big results.

I weigh myself once a week, same scale, first thing in the morning before I’ve eaten anything.

I also take measurements weekly. On weeks the scale hasn’t moved, the measurements have.

I thought I was making no progress before I started taking measurements because the scale didn’t budge. I’ve lost 2 inches across my chest (bra line), 3 at my natural waist and gained an inch in my arms which presumably is muscle.

My clothes are also fitting better. There’s more to weight loss than a number in the scale

In what time did the gain happen? In just 24h? If so, don’t worry about it 🫂

Homegirl I’m going to be so honest with you you did not magically gain 2 pounds of body fat in one night dwww it’s likely water weight or if you just ate 😭

  13. your weight will ALWAYS fluctuate 4-6 pounds. it never has been and never will be automatically reflected. the salt, water, food, restroom usages, etc will always come into play when weighing yourself daily. this is why you should track weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

Water retention. Also if you’re that upset over a weight fluctuation from one day it’s kinda clear you haven’t been in this for the long haul/desensitized to that sort of thing yet.

It’s normal. Keep tracking and keep working at it. If you continuously gain revisit your calorie intake and output to make sure you’re not eating above your actual output.
