Piece of the bag or some cardboard off a beer box.

  2. lodaddyo

Never tried those, i usually use the royal oak tumblweeds

  3. Ashamed-Wolverine692

A paper towel with some spray oil on it.

Cardboard, newspaper, paper egg cartons are the best. I wouldn’t spend a dime on a specialized starter like this.

If you want the paper to burn a little hotter and faster, put a little vegetable oil on it (used frying oil works also)

I usually do the paper towels and oil trick but it’s nice to have the Weber wax cubes on hand for easy starting.

Newspaper and a lighter is all I ever use

  7. timster2112

I coil up cut strips of paper grocery bags under my chimney, that’s all!

My gas grill has one of those side burners. I just fill the chimney with charcoal and put it over the lit burner for a minute or two

  9. heli0sphan

Napkin with whatever oil I have on hand. Although those wax cubes are pretty nice and only get them if on sale

For the grill, I only ever use paper grocery bags. For any other fire, I usually use fatwood in combination with other kindling.

Plain old paper my dude. Crumple it up

Found five boxes of the Weber wax cubes at a local greenhouse/garden supply store on clearance. I bought them out. I tried using paper rolled up and others but they sometimes wouldn’t stay lit and was very disappointing when I came out to no hot coals one time. Wax cubes are dependable, no odor either.

A paper towel with a dab of Crisco.

  14. guff1988

I love these but they are kind of expensive.

  15. KentuckyWildAss

Butchers paper with a little oil. Packing paper works just as good

  16. bobotes

I light my chimney starter with Kingsford fire starters using a JJ George grill torch.

A bit of the bag underneath. Then I use a luftlighter on top

  18. I get these straw, wrapped in wax, balls. Works amazing.

  19. iamtehstig

Little bit of cooking oil on the paper towel I just used to wipe the charcoal dust off of my hands.

  20. lscraig1968

A swatch of the charcoal bag balled up to the size of a baseball. Light with a cheap plumber torch and green camping propane.

  21. ImaRaginCajun

Cotton balls soaked in 91% isopropyl alcohol

  22. RespectTheTree

a sheet of paper towels torn in quarters dipped in the cheapest food oil i can find (leftover oil, bacon fat, whatever is safe)

  23. hashtagprayfordonuts

I use the Weber cubes. They’re the best. I’ve tried the ones you’re using now. They do not compare.

  24. canada1913

Usually I tear a piece off the charcoal bag. I always assumed that’s why they’re double layered with regular brown paper on the inside, that and extra protection.

  25. Got 200 sheets of packing paper for $8, 1 sheet works perfectly

  26. pewpewhadouken

    i make my own.

egg carton base. can remove each segment as needed. and a mix of sawdust or cotton balls, shredded plain paper products, dryer lint, etc. with some wax or vaseline. go for clean burning things.

  27. MacTechG4

Stump chunks (a local business here in New Hampshire), just what the name says it is, dried, shredded tree stump fragments

  28. Historical-Hiker

I tear strips of paper off the bag of charcoal. Tuck a couple in the bottom and one in the center. Burns easy.

  29. CockRingKing

Superior Trading Company’s fire starter pods are my favorite.

  30. moose2mouse

Cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol. Cheap. Easy. Effective. No ash.

I keep an old glass jam jar full of them ready to go.

  31. Circirian

Tumbleweeds, I order them off Amazon like 50 at a time for pretty cheap. They work so well on their own I often can forego my chimney

  32. Fangs_0ut

I sit my chimney on top of a propane burner

  33. Crenshaw59Blackman

I use the charcoal bag and old frying oil

  34. Single-Pin-369

Random paper with no ink on it dipped in bacon grease or old fry oil.

  35. LegalEyez_

Where the fuck are you people getting newspapers?
