As part of a walk from Dover to Folkestone: https://youtu.be/MY91co8p2Gk

…I stopped off beneath the famous white cliffs and cooked some dinner on “the beach”. I made a sort of “Mediterranean” risotto with fake chicken (that already has some kind of Mediterranean flavouring), courgettes, a tomato stock and deglazed with Champagne, because I happened to have some left over in the fridge from this @EnglishSparklingWine vs Champagne tasting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPhxc-z1T4A

In addition to a glass of the Champagne (which turned out to be surprisingly drinkable) as an aperitif I had, of course, some Gevrey Chambertin, and you can find the review of that over on @BurgundyWithTweedy : https://youtu.be/bhF9ruORF1o

  1. Once again… Stunning locale and great episode. But I'm suspicious thinking that that is a stage set and not an actual outdoor setting. You must run a top speed into the distance or into the water to debunk my skepticism. Either way, thanks for the show.

  2. Lovely location. A swig of Tatty, darling, but not enough sleeping in ditches. Carry on. Oh, I like saffron in my risotto. Does that mark me as a heathen?

  3. So nice to see this great location how nice to be on an English beach in summer without crowds. Good to see you happy and everything working out splendidly with the food and booze, and again inspiring me to cook like you!

  4. I'm sitting here with a cheap bottle of Tempranillo and a packet of Doritos … but I'm with you in spirit.

  5. Keith would indeed be proud of this. Fabulous, tasty risotto, 2 bottles of wine, the White Cliffs of Dover and an old, concrete beach. Marvellous.

Deglazing – is that right? – has been noted as something I should do if I ever have another go at cooking outside! Cheers!

  6. I smiled with joy throughout the entire vid. What could be more quintessentially English than a smartly dressed chap, clad in tweed, cooking a champagne infused risotto beneath the white cliffs of Dover?. Marvelous!.

  7. Excellent effort. Looked like you really enjoyed yourself. Keith looked down and chuckled to himself saying "thats my boy" and then had the presence of mind to set up the rainbow finale. You must do some more colabs!!

Very enjoyable to watch, well done!!

  8. Watching this with a bottle of Prosecco getting hungry! Love the scenery tweedy. Brilliant as always sir.
