We had the family vacation these past few weeks in Texas. Started off in Dallas with Pecan Lodge, It was good, not great but better then anything from Atlanta area. Then Hard Eight. Was an improvement from Pecan . Day 3 was Hurtado. Simply raised the bar for the BBQ we’ve had prior. . Great experience in Arlington. Went to try Ribbees because we didn’t make it to Goldees. But , Ribbees was closed at 730 pm on a Sunday. Really wanted to get to Patherr City but chose Hurtado instead that evening.
We then entured south to Austin. And had Terry Blacks, and Franklins . Missed out on Stiles & Switch and Leroy & Lewis. Those 2 are on a our list for our next trip along with a stop in Lockhart. We tried to go to Truth BBQ in Houston but we were delayed leaving San Antonio so had to skip it due to travel plans.
I really would like to know what y’all think needs to be on my list for round 2 of our BBQ crawl. Hope to be there for the UGA vs UT game. Hat tip to the state of Texas from a Georgia fan!
Great experience and y’all sure know how to do BBQ the right way and only way I prefer it to be do done.
