    I have question:

So do you put it in boiling water? Or in cold water and count the time from the minute it’s boiling?

Dude WTH I was watching in front of my mom

    The best way to do soft boiled is this;

Put in a pot and just cover with cold water.

    Bring to the boil quickly.

As soon as the water is at a boil, put a lid on the pot and turn off the heat.

Leave: small eggs, 1 minute, medium eggs 90 seconds, large eggs 2 minutes.

It works pretty much every time for me.

🤔 I don’t think this chart is accurate. But that’s just me.

This literally NEVER works. The best thing I’ve ever used is the “egg timer” which you chuck into the water along with the eggs. It has soft-medium-hard indicators which change colour as the water boils.

    It’s spot on every time.

I actually have a cook book that helps with this First you have to pop eggs into a mug then add two tablespoons of milk followed by salt and pepper wisk till pale yellow toss into the microwave for about minute 20

20 minutes so you can replace the ball underneath your old school mouse

  10. GummiBerry_Juice

how in the hell are you going to tell me that you can cook an egg for 15 MINUTES and its edible? That yolk would be a green rubber ball after 10 minutes

  11. PurdyGuud

I use 4 minute eggs to make mayo and hollandaise

  12. JTAx1995

7-8min eggs is my goto typically. The perfect consistency imo.

  13. MyFriendsTitties

This is explicitly not a “how-to.”

    This is a “how-long?”
Not enough information here for anyone to learn absolutely anything

Weird considering I boil anywhere from a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 20 at a time for 9 minutes and they come out looking like the 14min example…fucked up eggs or? 😅🤣

The 14-15 minute eggs are poorly cooked (chalky yolk / rubbery white). Cook them under boiling (doesn’t even need to simmer) for creamy yolks and tender whites. -Can be done with an inch of water over the eggs and heat turned off after light boil or simmer is reached (with a lid). Done in the same amount of time.

  16. In my experience i dont get ‘4min’ until like 6.5 min.

At 4min i cannot open the egg as the white is still 80% liquid.

These egg timer posts never specify storage temps like in the fridge verses counter

How big are the eggs, are you at sea level, did you start in cold or hot water, do you keep eggs in the fridge? All these things have significant effect.

My eggs, large, starting in boiling water at an elevation of 600ft look like your 14/15 min after only 9 min.

    I poach my eggs.

Small sauce pan. Fill about 2/3 with water with a little salt and bring to boil. Maybe a tablespoon. Then add some white vinegar (to help prevent sticking), it will stop boiling briefly.

While it’s coming back to a boil, crack the egg into a tiny mixing bowl.

Spin the water in the pan with a spoon once it’s boiling again

Oonce you got a good spin, slide the egg from the tiny container into the saucepan’s swirling water.

Now remove from heat and cover with a lid. Wait 6 minutes. Remove the perfect poached egg and enjoy.

Fun Fact : They can also be fried

7 minutes till perfection is what my grandma always told me!

  21. FictionalT

    8 minutes is the way.

Boil water, place eggs in for 8 mins and shut off, immediately remove eggs from boiling water and place in ice water for 8 minutes. Remove eggs from ice water for 8 mins and place in room temperature 1 hour or enjoy immediately.

I suggest trying it this way and slicing it up and layering it on avocado toast with salt and pepper. 🤤🤤

That is absolutely terrible. I worked as a chef for years and this chart is definitely not right. Not terrible but not right, first water boils at different temperatures depending on altitude which changes the boiling times. At sea level, take an egg boil the water and place an egg in for 6 minutes, turn it off and leave it in the air to cool a little, you’ll have a perfectly boiled egg. The six min in pic is under and the seven is well over you’ll get a much better result.

  23. Eastern-Balance-5919

6 min is goated. Especially for ramen or dipping bread/tortillas

  24. aoi_ito

ahh…Those 6 min eggs are perfect for ramen 🍜. Very helpful past indeed.

  25. King_Of_BlackMarsh

Idk why but ten minutes is perfect

  26. This depends on sea level, so not actually accurate

  27. mpls_big_daddy

There must be a difference somehow…. my 9-minute eggs look like your 15-minute eggs.
