Give it to me straight. My jalapenos are actually serranos aren’t they?

If this sub allowed pics as comments I’d show you but they’re quite a bit pointier than my serranos. Mine are also shinier and look like they have a tighter skin.

They could be diet jalapeños, as they sure are slim, but I’d go with others and would speculate they may be a cross.

They look like Serrano peppers. Could be hybrids

  4. They’re beautiful babies that don’t need no name! 👏 Congrats! 👏

Hard to say, there are so many Serranos and jalapeños out there that are dozens of not more varieties of each. Would imagine quite a few Serrano/Jalapeño hybrids exist out there.

Jalapeño is a big tent. Can’t really say if this fits under it or not.

Only pepper I can think of that looks like this is a golden cayenne. Leave a couple and see how the color as they mature? Might lend a bit more insight into what you have.

It looks similar to my super nacho jalepenos

I’ve had some jalapeños with weird shapes so you never know. I have some now that are fat and short

They are looking a little wonky to be a straight Serrano tbh…

Could be a jalapeño with a longer phenotype is all. Maybe the seed seller didn’t isolate their plants well. I grew habaneros with long and wrinkly pods. As soon as I cut it open and tried it, I immediately knew it was habanero.

My Serranos are a lot stubbier… yours remind me more of something along the Cayenne line…

They look like my favourite-Garden Salsa. However, they should continue to get bigger. If not, maybe something different.

All of my serranos are hairy plants lol these don’t look like any serrano I’ve ever grown

I’m not as straight as your peppers but Def not jalapeños

  16. RespectTheTree

They look like an Indian variety, could be a lot of things.

  17. NeonFreckle

That looks a lot like the Cayenne I’m growing.

Not a bad trade. IMO Serranos are a little more piquant, but easily as tasty. You may just use fewer in your recipes if heat is an issue. Congrats!
