I have heard about this place before and the reviews all look good. The price is… Pricey, but it seems like you may get a good sandwich at least. Apparently they have a pantry section as well as takeout stuff too! Was just wondering if anyone has been and if it's worth spending that much on a sandwich. I miss the days where most sandwiches still stayed around $5-7 😅 (all photos are taken off Google reviews, they aren't mine! Just wanted to give context to the place.)

I’ve heard of them, but only because they were totally obnoxious on Instagram – following and unfollowing me on three separate occasions.

When I told them this was annoying, they sent me a condescending “it looks like you’re having a bad day – why not make it better and check us out?”

Edit: Are the downvotes because people are mad I called this business out? My god people.

  2. The french onion grilled cheese is quite excellent

I frequent this place and their sandwiches are really good. A bit pricey but it’s a full baguette sandwich and quite filling.
Their roast beef and classic hoagies are excellent..
As for their other pantry items, I’ve never tried them but some of the chips and sauces look interesting.

Love this place, I usually go a few times a month. Get the Classic Hoagie every time. I prefer their baguette 🥖 to Lambo’s Sammie’s which I also highly rate.

They make excellent sandwiches. It’s definitely a regular in my rotation of the West end shops alongside Lambos, Good Behaviour etc.

They also sell a delicious dill seasoning that I’ve been tossing some lightly salted popcorn in, and that’s a damn fine experience.

I’ll be completely honest, for those prices, I’d rather make sandwiches at home. Especially the sandwich from the photo you posted, looks like veggies and cold cuts. This is also how I feel about Lambo’s or Grandma Loves You, or any other sandwich place.

In this economy, I’m only eating out what would be too troublesome to make at home.

No but added to my list, thanks!

See a lot of complaints about sandwiche prices these days… have you guys seen the cost of ingredients? Even buying wholesale it’s a pretty slim margin. I can pretty much guarantee these non-chain restaurants are not looking to gouge their customers at every turn – the money is covering the cost of the ingredients, the cost of labour, all the overhead required in running a brick and mortar establishment, and the convenience of having them make you a delicious sandwich that 9 out of 10 people couldn’t make for themselves at home. This is the cost of supporting locally owned businesses.

Just looking at the pics I can tell you I would happily pay a few dollars more for one of their offerings versus a combo from Subway, which is only marginally cheaper and 1/1000th of the quality!

Gentrified “bodega”, it’s for sure pricey. Even referring to it as a bodega is an insult to actual bodegas.

I haven’t had their sandwiches but ordered a gift basket from them to have delivered to a friend for their birthday, and it was amazing.

Nah, I head down Wallace to Peppers, a much better bodega.

So tired of the gentrifying hipster fantasy of opening an old new york deli but charging astronomical prices

Honestly, the pricing caught me off guard, and I’m usually pretty chill about food prices around here and it shook me a bit. But since it’s just a short walk away and I’d been meaning to try it, I went for it. From what I remember, the sandwiches were really good, and the shop itself was super cute with all these nicely packaged preserves and fish tins that I’d totally buy as gifts. I had the French onion grilled cheese and the classic hoagie. Both were good, but I liked the hoagie more since I’m into fresh, pickley flavors more!

Tried it today and was unimpressed. Overpriced and nothing special. Beerhall hoagie was dripping with sweet mustard and for a $20 sandwich I expected better.

    they are ‘costco’ sandwiches… period.
