I received this plant as a seedling as being a generic cherry tomato plant. I have no experience on gardening. Now, after about 2 months caring the best i can, my mom and the house cleaner keep laughing at me saying I'm rasing a common weed plant. Could you guys help me identify It? Is there a way to tell (if confirmed as a tomato, and i hope it is) if it is definite ou indefinite?

Doesn’t look like any tomato plant I’ve ever seen.
It’s definitely not a tomato.
definitely a weed. looks like some kind of amaranth
No
That is not a tomato plant of any variety.
Jeez I’ve heard of seeds being sold as a certain variety and end up being another, but I’ve never seen one turn out to be a wildly different plant lol
Edit: Looks to be Amaranth? Can’t say for sure though.
Also where did you get the seeds? Or was it a sapling when you acquired it?
Ps: I top dressed with castings more than once, amended with gypsum+Epsom, made a mulch with straw and fresh greens + bokashi, I really loved her hahahah
It is only a weed if you don’t want it. Keep this growing!
You grown tomatoes before? Where did you get the seeds?
Or could be duckfoot.
[It would seem to be palmers amaranth ](https://cals.cornell.edu/weed-science/weed-profiles/palmer-amaranth)
You’ve officially joined the club of gardeners lovingly caring for a … weed(?). Probably a weed.
Pepper maybe?
lol wtf this isn’t even a tomato
It kinda of looks like a tomatillo plant but the steam looks too thick? It’s got the suckers as a tomatillo would but I’m not 100% sure.
If it is amaranth (id after flowering) you can eat the leaves and seeds
I can’t wait to see how well you do with a real tomato plant <3
It’s a topato
That is a beautiful, healthy weed! She looks well-loved, and hopefully, you enjoy her beauty, if not her bountiful harvest.
Pigweed or Palmer Amaranth. If it’s Palmer you do not want it to go to seed.
Maybe a ground cherry? Just a guess?
Your real tomato will have that distinctive pungent smell when you brush your hand on the leaf. Even little guys.
Here’s another tip for when you get your next tomato seedling. Plant it high up the stem bc it will grow roots all along the stem and grow much faster initially!
And once you have a tomato plant, you will get seedling volunteers forever, and never go thru this heartbreak again. You’ll be giving away seedlings, and REAL seedlings, to all your friends and family.
Not tomato leaves….tomato leaves have a distinct odor …do these smell tomato?
Not tomatoe, looks like pigweed but could possibly be ground cherry?
Best cared for weed I’ve ever seen.
