Hey, barista. Do you ever hit burnout at work? Like, you go through phases where you snap pics of almost every latte art, but then you art a perfect one and don’t even bother to grab your phone?

It’s the process one enjoys not the victory.

I’m just burnt out on dealing with people who have no fucking idea how to communicate efficiently and have absolutely no self awareness. Customers have been even dumber lately

I pretty much only take pictures of my bloopers.

You will have different phases of burnout.
    – not being happy to click photos of your latte art.
    – tired of making conversations.
    – tired of talking to customers.
    – tired of the management.
    – tired of your colleagues.
    – tired of everything at your work even smiling 😕

You will get over it later, it’s just a phase. But you will never be the same again.

Nothing bad about it, happens to everyone, everywhere, no matter the line of work. Humans get bored of the same things, happening again and again. We need change.

You can try new things, recipes, start cleaning, greet the customer in a new way; this might help you from getting boredom or depression like feeling at work for a short period of time.

Besides the typical service industry burnouts, this might become an opportunity to obsess over another aspect of the drink. To me, nothing looks better than a well taken, perfectly timed and warmly illuminated picture of a delicious espresso after dialling in with success.

If you’re not happy with the result aesthetically or flavour-wise, you can always try to do better and learn more about coffee extraction.
