Bought this gorgeous crock pot from the 80s. What’s the best way to clean it? It doesn’t detach. Nor does the power cable.

I would just throw some dish soap in there and use good old-fashioned water and a scrubby sponge

Ain’t nothin special to it, imo

hot soapy water inside, scrub, rinse the inside, don’t submerge or get water between ceramic and outer metal. family has similar one for 30 yrs

Immerse in hot soapy water and clean with a gentle scrub brush. Do not use any harsh chemicals or abrasive tools.

After it is dry, cut the cord off and it can safely be used as décor.

You don’t clean it. You’re supposed to enjoy the 40 years of built up flavor.

Could be ‘70’s. I thought the removable crock ones came out around 1978. As others have said, warm water and dish soap. You can also surface clean the outside, looks like it has picked up a little more character than you might want in your kitchen.

Oh gosh, that brings me back to childhood! My mom had an identical one. Good find!

My mom had the same one! Memories! Like everyone else said scrub and rinse, just be careful of the cord. I hope you have many years with it! Enjoy!

Vinegar / baking soda paste works great. Use a Scrub sponge.

But first, fill it with dish soap and water and let it sit for an hour or two. Even over night. Then do what I mentioned above. It’ll be looking great after.

  9. That power plug looks much older than an 80s one. I’d be weary of using it at all, not to freak you out, but old crock pots like that can be dangerous and potential fire starters.

  10. Omg, those suck. I got my first one in 1979, and it was such a pain to wash. I’m glad that crock pot finally got a clue and made the ceramic pot separate.

    Soap. Water. Sponge. You confused?

If you have triplets, I’d throw it out.

Is there an issue with lead in the glazing with this age of the appliance?

Aw this is the one my Mom had to match the rest of her orange kitchen.

Used to have this exact pot (or so I thought) but mine detached. Loved that pot and swear the food in it tasted like grandmas love.

Have a brand new Crock Pot, as well as a old school Crock Pot, I clean mine with a damp Scotch sponge, pat off with rags never on my kitchen counter. Inside I rinse out the food I’m able into sink, then approach the remaining mess with the sponge. Clean off soap and mess with rags, repeat if needed. Kinda a pain but just the way it is.

Dishwasher is the only way. And leave room for the toaster while you’re at it.

I was once given one of these to analyse in our lab. Because of its age, we wondered if it could contain some. And yes it did! Chrysotile (white asbestos) cement material lining the element, however i had to break it apart to access it’s internals. So generally safe.

Has no one seen this is us?! Be wary of the old crockpots lol

Vinegar and baking soda always works well. Also get crock pot liners and then you won’t have to worry about cleaning it every time.

All I think of when I see this is this is us and how Jack died lol

Does it not bother you how old it is?? That is 30 years of cooked food crusted in it. Not worth it. Nasty.

Throw it out!! This is us vibes going on 😩😳
