My local produce co-op surprised me with this many habaneros today. Asking for ideas on how to use so many! Thank you

Hot sauce? Jam? I also am obsessed with them on nachos.

Do you dare to batter and fry a few whole ? Maybe with cheese in the middle.

    habanero poppers

Fermented hot sauce would be my first suggestion, or dehydrate them, keep the seeds, and process into either flakes or powder.

I get about 10 to 15 Habs a week from the store. I make a veggy scramble for my first meal of the day and always chop one up to put in that. Then for dinner, depending on the meal I’ll slice up another and put in or on that. That’s the no time way to consume them, but others ideas of jellies and making other things are great ideas too

If you got em, add some carrots, onion, garlic, vinegar and make a sauce.

I’ve never seen habs like this before.

These feel like some sort of crossbreed. I don’t think I’ve ever seen habeneros with wrinkles like that.

These look like habanadas to me. If so they are pretty mild but taste like a habanero.

Yeah, these look like habanadas. Have you tasted one?

These look like habanadas. Best eaten fresh and whole.

These look like Habanadas, a Habanero variety without any heat. I just picked about ~60 of them off my small plant this week and it’s still going crazy. I really enjoy the taste so I use them for everything. In my omelettes with onions, rice pilaf, great for sautéing with garlic and spinach, can add them to a stir fry etc.

These are not typical habs. OP- eat one and let us know!

OMG you guys!!! I took a bite and closed my eyes to prepare myself for the explosion in my face.

    And

    Nothing!!

But the flavor is EXACTLY as that from a habanero!!

My mouth was not blown today but my mind was!!

Thank you all for your knowledge!

I’m going to use these to dip them into hummus

Those look like fataliis and they are my favorite. Make a salsa with them

  15. Roasted salsa is top notch.

    2 habaneros
    1 tomato
    1 quarter white onion

    cut and roast these.

1 oz or so of lemon/ lime juice or tamarind paste

salt, cilantro if you want, then blend (immersion blender in a wide mouth mason is super convenient)

    THEN simple tacos with:

    grilled chicken

corn tortilla on a pan with some olive oil, flip it and put a slice of any white cheese on there and salt

    avocado

squeeze some lime juice on them

Toss a bit of coconut oil in a pot, cut these up, toss them in, fry them up. Toss in a white onion roughly chopped, a handful of garlic, and fry those up. Open ya windows.

Once you’ve got some colour on them add some white vinegar. A litre, maybe a bit more if you like. Make sure it covers what you’ve got in there. Add some salt. Add a few sweet apples. 4 or so. Boil the piss out of them. Add some lemon juice, add a decent amount of ginger. Boil until the apples are soft soft and you can mash them easy with a fork.

Take it off the heat and let it cool.

Stick it all in a blender and tear it up. Strain it through a baking sifter or whatever. Put it back in the blender. Taste.

Add some orange juice, a cup or two. Blend. Taste. Add more if you like, add salt if it needs, or if it’s just orangey enough still bitter add some sugar.

Just made this with some scorpions and it’s dynamite.
