  1. Here in California and Mom would make a terrific goulash, she would put canned spinach in it, and I hated spinach, but it was still great. How about trading tomato paste for the tomato soup? When you said it tasted a little sweet, that didn’t sound so good. I bet your homegrown canned tomatoes are wonderful though

  2. My east Texas grandmother use to make it with the same ingredients, she though used ketchup along with her garden tomatoes instead of the soup. She called it hamburger macaroni casserole. Goulash was either hungarian or a dish made from different cans of veggies mixed together with in our area and came about during the depression. I had no idea it was called goulash till I was grown with children, informed by my in laws who are yankees.

  3. Yes I love the Campbell's tomato soup, when making my stuffed peppers . Totally agree. Your recipe is called American chop suey in our family 😊 but definitely in the goulash family. Love it.

  4. Ooh I do have to have make this! It looks so good! 😂
New subby here, the goulag won me over.
It was 88 in Billings Mt. This afternoon. Right now it's in the 60's.

  5. Thats the home cooking I remember & still cook this way,. I just nought my first cast iron double short handle frypan & I intend to use it for Home cooking like I remember. Making it today.
It turned out amazing, Because I cant eat manufactured bag or boxed dried pasta cause it causes me so much inflammation, I bought Home Made Pasta "Tortellini for this" & it was just amazing. I used old cheddar & fresh grated Parmesan I made enough for 3 days. My Dad made something similar. he just called it Noodles & ground beef but essentially the same thing. Thats what most of us Canadians call it but its the same thing. I like the tomato soup addition as well, my dad never did this that I remember, He used canned tomatoes & tomato juice,
So this cost me a total of $65 to make on account I bought the frypan. LOL

  6. This is very close to what like to make and i call it chili mac. I just change out the bell peppers for some mex style mildly hot peppers. And change out some chili seasonings. I love it. I’m hailing from north western NC.

  7. It looks very great. The cheese makes a difference and the Worcestershire sauce. When I was younger and lived at home, mom would make that and I would call slop. I don’t call dad anymore Grady I love it. Good job thank you very much.

  8. Awesome dish, here in Newfoundland we make it fairly similar, I personally add mushrooms. I guess no matter what you do to it, it is still derived from the Hungarian version. growing up we always called it macaroni and minced meat lol

  9. My granny was from the Tennessee smoky mountains . She cooked something like this but used tomato juice …soooo good

  10. I like the format of your videos, and I really like the close-up shots. Come down to Florida and check out our humidity here! Delicious looking "Goulag". Thank you

  12. My Dad used to make this when I was a kid and I made it for my family. A great satisfying meal that doesn't break the bank and you usually have lots of leftovers which are of course even tastier the next day.
