  1. I'm British and we totally eat green tomatoes. Just because you can't buy them at Tesco's doesn't mean they don't exist. You can get them at farmers markets nowadays

  2. Soul Food? Really? All these Southern foods are eaten by most rural Southerners. Calling something "Soul Food" is a sales ploy

  3. When I was a child I read the book “Fried Green Tomatoes” after watching parts of the movie. The book actually had recipes at the end, and that’s how I fell in love with fried green tomatoes and the movie lol.. I’ve been cooking since I was 6 yrs old so my parents began to trust my inquisitive impulses to try new recipes I read about.. I was only 8/9 at the time I discovered fried green tomatoes 🥰

  4. 😭😭😭 I’m from the South and the way British people react to our food is crazy because it’s so good to them. Meanwhile we don’t want any British food because it’s nasty 😬

  5. I like mine dipped in a mostly flour, little cornmeal wet batter (use fine yellow corn meal) seasoned with some salt, black and cayenne pepper. Once golden, brown and delicious, take them out the grease to drain on brown paper, dash more of salt. Like mine with a dollop of sour cream.

  6. At the end of the season not all of the tomatoes have a chance to ripen. Rather than throwing them in the compost or to the chickens, they are made into chutney or fried green tomatoes.
