Good additions and thankful that Yukashi and Alobar were dropped. They were not anywhere near the region of a star when I dined. Two restaurant that noticeably did not win below.
Sushi Yugen (Kaiseki Counter) – Having only visited for omakase in the front it fell below expectations and I’m not suprised to see them not get recognized.
LSL – Genuinely happy to see them not win a star yet. Toxic chef and toxic situation promising the world and delivering so little. The nerve they had to charge the prices they do while delivering a subpar product in an untested space with an untested chef was extremely arrogant. The fact that you can eat at most of the world’s 3 stars for less than this restaurant is a testament to their delusions. I hope this drives them to close.
EDIT: my mention of the toxicity is directed primarily at masaki saito and the money behind the restaurant
I’m excited for my reservation at The Pine!
Patrick is going to be pissed
Been to Yukashi and very happy that they got dropped. If their signature dish was a5 kobe with foie and sea urchin seared, I can do that myself at home.
The list was measured on who they added/included. The list did not have any new Japanese stars. The list added restaurants outside of the Toronto zipcode.
This was a net positive for the list, and therefore the Toronto dining scene.
DaNico is the absolute best food experience I’ve had in Toronto. Cant recommend it enough.
Biggest loser from the guide seems to be Anthony Rose 🙁 Fat Pasha is completely out, like not even a mention in the guide and they’re removed from the Michelin guide website. Huge drop since it was a Bib last year.
Sad man. I have out of town friends I would go with whenever they were in town and he was always so friendly.
Only one that really deserves a star is Hexagon. Maybe The Pine.
Nice for Rasa. Wonder why no Richmond Station?
When did the The Pine raise their price from $185 to $195? I wonder if they did tonight because on the menu on the website it shows the price is $185 per person but when you try to make a reservation it shows $195 now.. ha
my little somtum jinda secret is out.
Been to Hexagon twice, both times left sick to my stomach.
Been to Pearl Morissette 5 times and I can’t stress enough how amazing it is.
I honestly think Bar Isabel deserves a star. It’s a top 3 favourite restaurant in the city for me.
The Michelin Industrial Complex.
Extremely expensive for the average joe
I feel a bit of vindication bc my partner got really sick from Alobar a couple of years ago and I just plain thought the food wasn’t that great, especially their greasy af bowl of shrimp and croutons swimming in oil 🤮
Can’t believe no Gourmands for Dreyfus or Bernhardts
Any of these places reasonably priced?
Don Alfonso still on the list? Wow. Went there twice and didn’t find that special.
# Som Tum Jinda is my happy place
still surprised to see puerto bravo on this list, last time i was there the food quality was really sub par and they forgot half of our stuff even though we were the only table lol
How did Sushi Yugen not get any recognition!?!?
As a side note, it’s annoying that @torontolife says…The Pine is a new restaurant. It’s been there for 4 years. Need to fact check guys.
