I keep seeing this in the webtoons but I don’t know what it is? Some sorta lotus root?? How come it’s individually wrapped?? Or is it a type of biscuit?

All wrong, that’s 번개탄.
It’s similar to 연탄, but thinner and made with sawdust, starch, charcoal powder, etc. to have a lower ignition point. It’s designed to help you *start* your fire, because normal 연탄 is made of anthracite and difficult to ignite sometimes. Think briquettes.
On a much more depressing note, it’s also used for suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning.
