Your recipe seems a bit flawed. I plugged in all of the information while skipping chocolate chips and expresso powder and the total comes out to 118 calories for my app. If you add the chocolate chips used in the picture, then it would be closer to 150 calories for a mug cake like that while also requiring you to keep all those ingredients on hand.

For an easier mug cake recipe, take any box of cake mix and mix it at a ratio of 3 tablespoons mix to 2 tablespoons water then microwave 1-2 minutes. You can also add frozen fruit like blueberries or chocolate chips and then top it with whipped cream or whatever else you want. It was originally a WW recipe that called for half angel food cake, half any cake mix and you would use seltzer, but you can use tap water and any cake mix and get similar results. That’s what I personally do and it still rises fine with similar calorie counts.

32 grams angel food cake 120 calories

32 grams Aldi chocolate cake mix 127 calories

30 grams frozen blueberries 15 calories

2 TBSP whipped cream 15 calories

10 grams Aldi Bittersweet Chocolate Chips 53 calories

10 grams SF Russel Stover Chocolate Chips 40 calories

As you can see from the above numbers, chocolate chips don’t differ too much between SF and normal ones. The base calorie counts aren’t much different from the recipe you shared either while not requiring anything but a $1-$2 box of cake mix to be kept on hand and having full, normal sugar. Frozen fruit is also a great flavor option while being lower calorie than the chocolate chips while chocolate cake mix still gives you that chocolate flavor.

Of course, this is just pinching calories (pennies) and you can do whatever works best for you, but I thought I’d share an alternative option in case you just didn’t know about it.
