I made some cookies for my son’s first birthday. I’m not happy with the results but the thing that concerns me the most is how opaque the icing is after drying. Recipe was pretty standard with meringue powder, water and powdered sugar. Tips for a nice solid color and not so opaque and porous finish?

Add a tablespoon of clear corn syrup or your icing and make sure your cookies dry in front of a fan for several hrs.

I use frankenfrosting. Its a mix of royal icing and glaze. Has a soft bite but is still hard and dries with a nice shine. If you google it you can find the recipe.

What type of meringue powder do you use? Wilton is low quality and its worth the extra few dollars for a higher quality one. I prefer genies dream. Also how do you dry them? A dehydrator will change your life lol
