I just got a new KJ Classic I lid on my 12yr old KJC and am trying to upgrade to the Smokeware chimney cap. The original KJ daisy wheel vent fits the new lid perfectly, but my brand new Smokeware chimney cap will not fit fully onto the chimney, it doesn't even make it halfway on before it's too tight to go any further. I've attached pics showing the two caps.
I am also including photos showing the diameter of the chimney (139mm at the top and 149mm at its base) and the cap (less than 141mm, excluding the flared part at the very bottom). I don't understand how the cap will ever fully seat on the chimney given these dimensions.
I've emailed Smokeware to get their thoughts, but thought I'd post here too for any words of wisdom. It's weird because most of the posts I've seen that talk about fit issues are because of the caps being too loose.

Is that the felt that came with the Smokeware cap? Why does it look so thick? Kinda looks like you doubled it up
