I saw this in a seed shop in south africa, and i was just curious if its true, since according to Google, the carolina reaper is the hottest chillie (besides pepper x ofcourse)

Not true. And even if it’s true for 1 random pepper, it doesn’t mean it’s a stable hotter than reaper variety / cultivar. By the way, Pepper X is now officially hotter than reaper

Lots of peppers exceed the reaper. And no not pepper x bc that’s as real as Santa Claus and big foot.

Don’t take too much stock in “hottest in the world” competitions. Registering a world record costs a lot of money to do, and getting a pepper tested by an independent certified lab isn’t cheap either. There are plenty of peppers at, around, or even above a reaper’s heat level, but just have never been officially tested or registered due to the cost involved.
Just know that it’s hot as fuck, and Ed Currie is not to be believed.

I’ve heard they’re actually that hot. There are several varieties that claim to be hotter, but the problem is how costly it is to actually get that number certified. I personally think there are a few peppers hotter, but I wouldn’t be able to pick them out lol.

This might be sacrilege but to be completely honest past a certain point none of it really matters. Everybody and there mother has some version of *Super Insane Extreme Nuclear Heat Killer Ghost Reaper Godzilla Devil I Am Become Death Destroyer Of Worlds Pepper* now and they just go around each other in circles in a race of technicality and rumor because almost none of it is truly tested and documented / classified and even if it is the rest are too crazy to ever eat in any but the smallest portions.
I’m much more invested in finding peppers that bring the heat with great flavor than scorch the earth with none because IMO you’ve had one you’ve had them all experience-wise.

Jigsaws are hot.
There’s a huge difference between the least hot reaper and the hottest reaper, and the hottest jigsaw is certainly hotter than the mildest reaper. So it would be technically correct to say that a jigsaw might be hotter than a reaper.
However, I think the median of the reaper is higher than the median of the jigsaw.

My jigsaws are ornamental. And when I Google jigsaw peppers, it appears someone didn’t do the research because they’re one of the prettier varieties.
