Ivan Drago didn’t mince words.

No way someone said that to her. They probably just rolled their eyes and didn’t give her positive attention she feels she deserves, and then she exaggerated for effect.

If you’re deathly allergic to pepper then I guess it’s your time to leave this earthly plane.

Guess she lived long enough to Yelp.

Tell me more about the Reuben!

It was probably preceded by the cook saying “I can’t guarantee no cross contamination”

I had an anaphylactic episode a few weeks ago where the customer said they were deathly allergic to hot peppers. The only hot peppers we have are chili flakes and they’re only used on special requests.
She found out that night that she was allergic to paprika as well and had to run from the restaurant to dig through her garbage dump of a car to find her epi pen while we called an ambulance which she refused.
I was stressed the fuck out for the rest of the night thinking I’d almost killed a customer but then went back and there were no allergies listed on the ticket.
Server was reprimanded and now there are written notices posted throughout the restaurant that servers MUST post any communicated allergies on the ticket and a manager must be informed when a customer communicates any allergies.

Shit reminds me of a customer that said she had a very severe “seed” allergy but wouldn’t specify any more than that.
Ok lady look, all of these vegetables you asked for on your nachos started as seeds. Almost everything you ordered contains ground up seeds or started from a seed I NEED SPECIFICS IF ITS THIS SERIOUS
Edit: typos

My favorite is “where are *insert vegetable* grown? Do they use pesticides?” It’s like gee lady, I’ll just stroll across country and ask. Until then, I’ll use the organic non pesticide, non gmo, hand picked veggies that we don’t give to other customers, but save only for you, sweet karen.

I am allergic to pepper. Do I raise a stink? No. I take Benadryl before eating anywhere other than home and carry an Epi Pen. The 🌎 does NOT stop with MY allergy…
Thats_A_Paladin
If you’re allergic to black pepper you can’t eat in a restaurant. If you mean fruits of the *capsicum* genus then you need to say that.
The real thing is that she doesn’t want anything to be spicy and made up an allergy which is an asshole thing to do and she deserves to be mocked.

I have heard my coworker say this many a time, never seriously but sometimes lol he’s usually referencing something!

lol I had a guest get mad at me once like this too and leave a review. They were sitting at the bar at a pretty upscale place where I was Sous at the time. Man asked for me to cut his filet up in to a bunch of tiny pieces and put the frill toothpicks in all of them. The grill was right by the door to the bar area and this guest heard me yell “what the fuck does he want me to go baby bird the shit to him too??” While I made an obnoxious pantomime of me spitting it out in to his mouth. This rich fucker did not appreciate my joke either lol but fuck man we are in the middle of doing 200 covers I ain’t got time for your shit!

Probably should not eat out if you’re allergic to a common ingredient like pepper
Yeetus_McSendit
They should put a “If she dies, she dies” burger on the menu that’s got extra peppers.

So, I strongly believe that allergy is a lie. Why? People genuinely allergic to common staples like butter, pepper, etc, know how prolific it is, and don’t eat at restaurants casually and expect to be accommodated. It’s an allergy you’d ALMOST ALWAYS hear “that’s cross contaminated with everything, I can’t assure safety”,you already know it’s everywhere and don’t trust us food service employees to be accurate, or YOU ARE FUCKING DEAD because you trusted food service workers to avoid ALL PEPPER with no notice.
Tricky-Spread189
Pepper allergy isn’t a thing. Like a salt allergy again not a thing.

Black, jalapeno, Anaheim, bell, harbenerjo. What pepper are we talking about?
All the peppers?
grau_is_friddeshay
Automatic red flag (dietary preference masquerading as anaphylaxis risk) if the person can’t clarify peppercorn vs capsicum allergy.
People who have severe allergic reactions or intolerance to such common ingredients would know to be VERY cautious eating at ANY restauraunt.
Most customers I’ve encountered that have something like that (or onion/garlic or actual celiac disease) are very good at advocating for themselves, and are usually incredibly courteous about it and prepare themselves accordingly.
“If she dies..” sounds a bit harsh, but it really is kitchen shorthand for “we are unable to guarantee, customer is at their own risk”.
