What's your favourite kind of FETA?💙
After this, R & A, you just became feta experts! (frankly I don't think any of us Greeks has ever compared those side by side LoL)
Well these are all fine fetas but too expensive for me. I was going with the Kalavryton (400gr) up until a year ago until it suddenly became like 2 euros pricier – now I buy Karalis which is a decent feta at abt 4 euros (again 400gr)
You can make tyropita with the remaining feta
🧀🧀🧀 🥰
feta is a pop product (protected designation of origin) and is always made with sheep's and goat's milk in certain proportions. if you don't make it with sheep's milk and goat's milk, you can't call it feta (it's illegal) apart from feta, there are other cheeses with a similar appearance, for example white cheese that is made with cow's milk and is almost half the price of feta and goat cheese but I don't know its price
I also suggest that when you open a box of feta or white cheese like the last two you tried, to rinse the cheese with water, the liquid that is in the package is to keep the cheese longer without yellowing-spoilage. and it will be good to have the feta all in such a liquid. They sell it in the supermarket and it's called ΑΛΜΗ. you can also make it yourself with yogurt, enough coarse salt and water. then you will be able to eat it without washing it
Fry them quickly (so they don't melt just make them soft) in a saganaki pan with olive oil, black pepper and paprika. I do that for the kids all the time to load them up on feta, they don't eat it otherwise.
please dont buy feta buy only white cheese the supermarket kartels sells it for 12.50-16 per package please suport us <3
The best cheese from Crete is Anthotiro. Ανθοτιρο.
Feta goes with anything but besides the Greek salad the best combinations are by far with a lentice soup and with shrimp cooked in tomato sauce. Also it goes very well in an omelette. Trust me
I love all kinds of Feta. I was blessed with grandparents and granduncles that made their own and I loved it a lot. My grandfather used to grill some bread on the fireplace stove thing and then some feta on foil until it melted nicely to spread on the grilled bread. it was awesome. I don't have a fireplace so I melt my feta in the microwave now, not as good but still tasty. Also, my mother got me into trying tea, or chamomile, with feta and some bread of crackers (Frygania) for breakfast which is much better than it sounds. Just some ideas to try now that Winter is coming.
I love feta, but my favorite white Greek cheese is Manouri. Sheep or goat, way less salty than feta, more creamy and soft, completely different taste. You can eat it mainly by itself (while you rarely eat feta by itself) and it can shine in pastry
Feta is too expensive. You can buy leuko tyri which is the same thing but half price
Feta with tomato 🍅🥒 and oregano is better greek salad
Ήπειρος ❤❤❤❤❤
you put some of the feta in the freeze and use it laters as filing in pies
after you done with all this feta explore the cretan cheeses
cretans eat with theyre knife …
If you want to combine feta with honey, you should make some type of "saganaki". Fried feta slice folded in fyllo and after you fry it, you add sesame seeds and the honey all over it. Raw feta with honey, I dont think it works, never heard anyone eat it like that. The best combinations imo is feta on top of Greek salad or Cretan "dakos", also with some traditional recipes like "gemista", "fasolakia", "spanakorizo", etc or just with fresh, warm rustic bread. Lastly, feta+fruits (such as watemelon, figs, grapes )some Greeks love it, some hate it.
Those are very nice but you would find even better from local small producers or rightaway from a sheperd!..
I am waiting to see another video where you make all this feta into various pies (e.g. cheese pie, spinach pie etc) or dakos if it feels easier for you. Take care!
The best like feta style cheese that I have ever taste is : STATHORIS PETROTO (goat cheese), is the top of the top, but it is more expensive than those that you have tasted in the video!
Hello guys, good combination with the feta cheese is with lentil soup, or just olive oil oregano and bread. If you find in the market a good choice for me is the Valmas feta, (Φέτα Βαλμά).
Hi guys, glad you are enjoying Greece so far.
Feta and watermelon are a great combo but I grew up in the northern part of Greece and our traditional breakfast in the winter months was feta some fresh bread with honey and tea.
Another way to eat feta is to place it in foil with tomatoes on top drizzle some olive oil and oregano on top wrap it up and cook in the oven at 200 degrees for 15-20 min.
Make sure not to do this with cow feta as it will melt completely.
Hey you are grate. I love your clips. Filia nikos from germany
❤
DODONI is the best!!! 🤗✌️
You’ll eat 3kilos of feta by the end of the week
If you can eat half a block of feta in one sitting or eat tzatziki with a spoon you’re greek
Βαλμάς by far..
Dodoni feta the best and feta with tomatoes and green peppers the best combination !
The right way to consume feta is to leave it on water for a few minutes so that the water will absorb some of the big quantity of salt used for the preservation. When you consume feta directly it is very salty, sometimes a little sour and definitely not healthy for people with high blood pressure. I don't know if I can be objective, having origins from the area, but the best feta is produced in Epirus region and I strongly suggest "Karalis" , Dodoni and Epirus trade marks. Enjoy!!! 😊🇬🇷☺️
I vote for Δωδώνη I eat cheese with every cooked meal, with okra, with lentils, chicken, in moussaka in pastitsio everyday and with Everything 😊
Just make a cheese pie …. it's delicious
Wrap these in some filo; deep-fry until golden; sprinkle with sesami seeds and drizzle with a few spoons of good honey. The best appetizer! (And to be honest; a very common one that you can find on any taverna menu)
I haven’t tried feta with honey but a very common dessert is Greek yoghurt & honey it’s just paradise for me
You can try to καυτερή
Basically, for a balanced and mildier taste, I prefer the Epeiros.
But the superior taste belongs to Kalavriton, straight from the barrel (not prepackaged).
Sklavenitis SM has it.
All over Greece, there are a lot of great local fetas and is always worth trying local cheese.
Next time try Graviera (yellow cheese).
Once you spend a couple of years in this country you'll do what greeks do and get yr feta "from the barrel" 👍
