All are legit, but pho #1 — though I have a feeling what I think this sub will choose.
Otonatua
Tbh, noodle soups. My own recipe best!! Bout out of these, Pho.
Though I do put 5 diff alliums in it anyway XD
MaggieMakesMuffins
I love my mom’s french onion soup it makes me so happy and cozy. But her clam chowder is my favorite
meh725
I’m good at broccoli cheddar but takeout pho is a pinnacle I’m not sure I can reach
Unlucky-tracer
No way I could pick just one, but french onion is tied for first with two others
Individual_Break6067
Borscht, pho, French onion, tomato, clam chowder. All others tied for 6th.
AutVincere72
Clam Chowdah!!!
TheAwkwardGamerRNx
Phó 100% for me. That is one food I could eat every damn day.
pmljb
French onion is the only acceptable answer
chpbnvic
Actually clam chowder is my favorite.
sparkle_slug
Lobster bisque. Then maybe clam chowder. Kinda don’t like onions too caramelized. I like them closer to raw
SwollenOstrich
Well I love french onion…but given the chance at a lobster bisque im goin for that. Love a good lentil…and clam chowder…can we just agree soup is awesome
Tasty_Lead_Paint
I say it depends on the weather, what else you’re eating, and how you’re feeling. No way I’m eating lobster bisque when I’m sick that’s chicken noodle soup or pho but I’m not having lentil soup with a grilled cheese that’s a tomato soup job.
Deppfan16
they all benefit from more and good onion
KryptoDrops
That onion/garlic soup recipe that was posted on here is gonna be dank
Obama_Sin_Dalen
I gotta back up the chicken noodle gang on this one.
NB-THC
Pho
Clamstradamus
Definitely french onion, I love it most of all
Spiffy313
I hate to echo the crowd, but pho really is the best one here. I had a red curry soup once that was just about as stellar. I’m a sucker for spices at much as I’m a sucker for those beloved stinky root vegetables!
honesttruth2703
Lobster bisque
Willing_Soft_5944
I’m not actually a huge fan of French onion, Pho is really good, but my favorite is my families chicken noodle recipe, carrots celery and onions make up the veggies, and we make big flat noodles out of an egg and flour dough, we drop them into the boiling soup after the veggies and chicken broth have been added
Sweet_pie
Beef stew or beef bourguignon. Nothing else compares.

wonton…
joh5nny
Broc/cheese, lobster bisque, cream of mushroom.
christophersonne
My dad is a French chef, and i grew up eating French Onion soup Frequently..
The answer to this question is Pho, though. It reigns supreme.
Pho is the Zeus of the Soup Pantheon. Bowltheon.
Mustche-man
My favourite is literally called “Brain soup” or “Fake brain soup” if it doesn’t have brain in it. This is going to sound weird for Americans, but it’s still so tasty.
– a proper lobster bisque. le dog—a now-closed small take-out hut in ann arbor—had the best lobster bisque i’ve tried.
– gazpacho with plenty of raw onion and garlic
ArmsForPeace84
From this list? French onion as a course, pho as a meal.
But some of my favorites aren’t on this list. Gazpacho, white salmon chowder, zuppa Toscana, potato & leek, humble but delicious beef vegetable soup, pozole, bun bo Hue, borscht, kharcho, kimchi jiigae, dobin mushi, ramen, tempura shrimp udon, and matsutake mushroom clear soup.
Whoopsy-381
French onion FTW!
SeverenDarkstar
Broccoli Cheddar for meee
erudite_idiot
I add onions to all these soups (even French onion).
vincincible
I’m a fan of clam chowder, French onion, pho, and lobster bisque.
frogkisses-
I consume lentil soup with such a concerning display of desperation. Like I haven’t eaten in weeks. Tomato bisque is more for having fun. Throw in some cheese and fresh bread and I’m set.
Preact5
Pho.
PKFat
I know what sub this is, but the best soup I’ve had was from this weird Chinese restaurant in town that’s no longer w/ us. It was egg drop wanton, which is exactly what it sounds like.
Stupid_cray0n
I’m torn. It’s French onion or clam chowder for me
IOrangeJuiceI
Pho with extra onions, I wish I could eat it everyday
insipidgoose
I don’t see Menudo here.
linksfrogs
I’d probably say tomato or French onion. Pho is incredible but it’s kind of cheating because there are so many varieties
DLeck
I love onions, but tomato soup or bisque is my jam.
As much as I love onions in so many different uses/ways of being cooked, French onion stuff is not a flavor I am a huge fan of.
Pink__Fox
My favourite soup is not on this list. It’s Hot and Sour soup. I adore it. My Dad would take me after school to our favourite Chinese restaurant for a father and daughter bonding time and we would always order it.
4theloveofbbw
There’s onion in all of them so you can’t go wrong. I’d pick tomato , broccoli cheddar, and tortilla. I need one from each row.
nekopara-enthusiast
not listed but chicken yellow curry for me. no carrots because fuck carrots and add extra onions. my only wish is that places would cut the potatoes smaller because they are massive chunks usually.
Doza93
Pretty hard to beat a good Pho or Tortilla soup, though I would add zuppa toscana to this list – that shit SLAPS

Tomato!! Absolute favorite!
– clam chowder _sans_ bacon (it overwhelms the clams & potatoes)
– a proper lobster bisque. le dog—a now-closed small take-out hut in ann arbor—had the best lobster bisque i’ve tried.
– gazpacho with plenty of raw onion and garlic
