I’m trying to eat clean and I want to make this recipe, but just wondering what happens if I exclude the oil, flour, and butter?

What will that do to the soup?

Will I need to make other adjustments, like to the cooking time?

  1. Why don’t you just eat less of it if you want to reduce calories? (Assuming that’s what “clean” means to you)

Your body needs fats and grains to function. There’s nothing “unclean” about those things unless you have some sort of disorder that means your body can’t process them (or, celiac disease).

It’s a thickener, the flour. You could use a bit less of a whole wheat flour perhaps, butter you can exclude, oil you don’t have to use necessarily but olive oil is very heart healthy. If you’re not using any of these, once the soup is finished cooking according to the recipe, take the lid off and let it cook a bit more. It’ll allow it to reduce. Hope this helps any. Otherwise, I just found a possible dinner for tonight.
