Agreed! Highly recommend a cheap coffee grinder that you use solely for peppers. Makes a world of difference.

Also deseed and toast them before you grind, combine several varieties to make your own chili powder by adding pepper corn cumin seed and oregano, Mexican preferred, when you grind it.

I think that’s the same cheap dehydrator I use. It’s a good call it works the same as expensive ones. Youre a mad man for trying to use a mortar and pestle though. Buy a $15 coffee grinder from Walmart. You can’t grind up peppers well in a mortar and pestle. Good mortar in pestles are significantly more expensive and they’re pretty much ruined from all the oils. No amount of hand washing is gonna get that super hot out. I’ve made the same mistake before. If you want flakes instead of powder use the $7 food processor also from Walmart.
