This a klinker from Bear Mountain Apple Wood pellets. I mostly use B&B pellets and never gotten a klinker. I've used Knotty Wood many times and gotten small klinkers about the size of a shooter marble and smaller, but never this size. It's about the entire inside diameter of the fire pot. This picture doesn't do it justice. I hit it with my vacuum hose and it broke apart. The more I handled it the more it crumpled. The top was level with the auger feed with some ash and unburnt pellets. There was a good bit of ash underneath. Is common through out Bear Mountain pellets? Is it just something that comes with fruit wood pellers?

Fruit wood is the worst with clinkers, especially apple from my experience. More silica/minerals in it from the small branches and bark.

Haven’t used BM fruit pellets but have used other brands. Pretty much only use oak, maple, hickory now.

I’ve cooked many bags of bear mountain as well as the other brands you mention and have never seen one before. I never knew this was a thing.

I’ve had these show up a lot using bear mountain as well as treager brand pellets. Also with bear mountain I had a 3 inch chunk of rubber go through the auger and almost blew up my grill. I assume the rubber was from a conveyor belt.

Use Green Mountain pellets. Never seen this

  6. This made me switch from Bear Mountain to Kirkland pellets exclusively
