I was looking through "the complete ramen" book, using Google translate to help me and I spotted a few recipes calling for "momiji". I know it can mean "maple leaves" and "venison". Maple leaves sounds strange. Venison sounds much more plausible but it seems very small for this quantity of broth.

How would you interpret momiji in this situation? Also, when speaking of momiji for venison in Japanese, do they mean it very generally or a more precise type of venison?

Thanks you in advance
