I think it’s time to replace my old pit boss, wanting something around this price range that is WiFi capable to be able to start it on my way home from work. My question is, which would you buy and why?

Probably the camp chef, mainly for the extra space.
I think reqtec is a better overall quality company but camp chef is solid and a better value between the two.

Had the bullseye for the past month. Pizza, wings, pork butt, fried rice, quiche, chicken thighs, all amazing.
Superb temp control and app to boot

I’m going for the Camp Chef because I prefer the more traditional look and layout. And without actually googling it, I’m assuming the Camp Chef has more cooking area

I didn’t think we were able to start grills remotely, only turn them off for safety reasons?

The camp chefs are supposed to be opened during start up, I know it’s a small risk of kaboom but I wouldn’t want to not be home if it were to happen.

Not sure about these two grills- but I cant start my wifi grill from the app- needs to be manually started then you can use the app…

You can’t start anything remotely anymore. Some safety regulation or something.
That said I would go recteq if you ever plan on grilling burgers, steaks, or chicken breast. It’s also compatible with webber accessories (like grill grates). I don’t bother with charcoal after getting the bullseye.
Camp chef may be a better choice if you only do low and slow, the recteq can do it as well but it has absolutely no grease management so you’ll need to use a drip tray. You will not be able to do a decent burger or steak on the camp chef though.

Well my dreams of starting my grill from my phone have been squashed. I will be using the grill for grilling as well as smoking.

Id spend a little bit more for the Woodwind Pro.
If that isnt an option, Id go with the Camp Chef unless you specifically need/want the high heat function of the Bullseye. Even if you do, you can get a SideKick for the Camp Chef later. The Camp Chef is easier to clean, as the Bullseye lacks a grease bucket or any kind of dedicated grease system. It does at least have an ash cleanout though (so does the Camp Chef).

Camp chef for size. Bullseye for flexibility

Love my Bullseye 380X, really happy with it so far. Since you mention it specifically though, you cannot start the Recteq from the app any longer. It was possible originally but they updated the app some months back and you no longer can start it remotely.

Weber searwood

Which ever has less complicated name and doesn’t include numbers lol .

I own the campchef. Cleaning in between cooks is pretty painless. There is a cup you twist off under the firebox. It has worked well for a long time. I use it about once a month only for long cooks. I have a “side sear box” attached to use propane when I want to do a chicken breast on a week night or something fast. The side sear burner is pretty useful. The camchef doesn’t get hotter than 400 degrees. Reverse searing a marinated london broil or a tritip makes it so versatile. It has held temps for a 12 hour brisket too. I have never use the reqteq so idk how well it works.

FWIW, reqteq does a black friday sale so if you wait a month, you can get the deluxe like $150 off. I got it last year and love it.

The bullseye is a workhorse. I would never buy anything else after having Traeger, zgrills, propane

I recommend taking a look at the Weber Searwood and the Camp Chef Woodwind Pro. The CC woodwind pro has a smokebox for added smoke but you will probably also want to add the sidekick searbox, which jacks the price up a bit, but if you want to sear anything on the grill you will need to add it. The Searwood can sear and smoke without adding anything to the cost. I’ve been leaning towards the Searwood but I haven’t pulled the trigger yet. My dream would be a Yoder 640s but it’s about double the cost. Lone Star Grillz are also very popular but expensive.
EDIT: Remote start is not an option I’ve been looking at and is probably dangerous, so I haven’t taken that into consideration.
