I did once, but it was my fault. During the pandemic, I got my usual birthday sandwich, the pastrami Reuben, to go. The to go foil caused the sandwich to steam the grilled toast back into bread. Very sad.

Is Brent’s as good as Canters?

The Westlake Village Brent’s is a tad better. It is worth the drive.
Also because it is in Thousand Oaks which is in Ventura County the sales tax is 7.25% instead of 9.5% in LA city.

I miss Brent’s. I remember you could get sandwiches from Brent’s in the window of the stovepiper next door. Is the stovepiper still there? Also, if you stay past closing at the stovepiper on Sundays for karaoke, you could smoke inside the bar. So the evening would go pastrami from Brent’s inside the stovepiper, 5 hours of karaoke, then smoking inside.

Brent’s is amazing. Black Pastrami Rubin is the best sandwich I have ever had. Portions are large so can be split.

Brent’s is good but even back before 50% inflation, you needed a loan to eat there. I can’t imagine what it’s like now. $40 for pastrami sandwich?

Brents is everything! No slight to Canters, Fromin’s, Art’s, Bernie’s, Lancers, etc., but Brent’s is OG. #13 for life!

I made a very obvious “sick person on a BRAT diet lives alone” order to go, and they included extra broth, extra applesauce, and a second ginger ale. I ordered again the next day lol, they legit helped keep me from being hospitalized because I was able to finally keep those fluids and other things in and my BP rebounded.

Call me crazy, but i had their mini latkes last week and they were burnt tasting and really hard. Idk i feel like i was gyped. But in all honesty i was there for the damn delicious tapioca pudding!!! Its perfect 🥹🥹
