Both, but if forced to choose, right for pico. When I make salsa, I use varying sizes because each bite deserves to have a slightly different flavor profile of “ooo. Just a little extra onion, yah”… or “mmm, yum, a lot of extra onion yum”.

For salsa, left. For pico, right. Esp if the diced tomatoes in the background at what you’re also using. I like my onions and tomatoes simiarly-sized.
