I'm using Marcela Hazan's Essentials cook book, which has no pictures for reference. When I Google other pictures of people using her recipes they vary so much I can't really gauge it.

Yeah it is. Quite easily solved by removing the pasta from the pan. Add some tomato paste and water to the pan (pasta water preferably but you could also smash some cooked pasta in just water). Cook until you get some thick sauce, and stir the pasta through it.

Your pasta also looks a bit overcooked.
