Just get her a decent step stool dude, they’re like 25$. Unless you feel like baking when she fucks herself up in an accident.
ABoyWithNoBlob
I just found a Hobart h-600 for 800 of FB, had it completely restored to brand new for 1500, and it would still cost less than the worker’s comp that would have to be paid out.
This is fucking stupid.
Jpsomething
Hola workers comp attorney here – stupid shit like this keeps me in business.
Drunk_Gary1
I g9t the opposite problem because all our prep cooks are short they took the wheels off most of the prep tables to lower them so now I’m hunched the fuck over when I gotta prep shit.

Hello, r/osha check this shit out…

Question is why don’t you have that thing on a shorter table? I’m 5’10” and would hate having to work on a big mixer like that on a regular height prep table.
Flibiddy-Floo
When I said “*give her a raise!*” this isn’t what I meant
on a serious note, please provide a safe working environment for all employees. This is not it.
kittenshart85
y’all need to rearrange the station to match her physical needs, not whatever tall-ass non-baker set it up. this is stupid dangerous.
ChatnNaked
Those milk crates are already slippery on dry concrete, it being only makes it worse.
MariachiArchery
This is astonishingly unsafe and grossly negligent. Like, what the actual fuck. This isn’t just workers comp, this is like, a slam dunk tort case. And, this post is exhibit #1.
Now, before people come in here and call me a fearmonger, I just want to say that I’ve had a baker get seriously injured on one of these machines. And, that shit went sideways really fucking fast. Thank god we had cameras.
Get this thing on a lower prep table. A step stool is not a solution. If you don’t want to, or can’t afford it, it would be better off on the ground. Seriously, just put it on the fucking ground. Looks like the bowl would be 6″ off the ground to me. So, no big deal and no one needs to lose a fucking arm.

When she trips off that she’s pulling the whole show down with her.

Get her an OSHA approved stool before some sort of totally preventable workplace injury renders someone hurt and someone else liable ! 👀🥲 just sayin

Worked with a pastry chef shorty who would amaze me with the way she would adapt to getting around the kitchen. My favorite was how she used the hooked part of a ladle handle to grab hard to reach objects on shelves. I ended up marrying her.
notavegan90
Yikes. Either get her a step stool or move the table down and get a 24 inch prep table to set that on. Super dangerous for no good reason

You need a step stool That’s dangerous as hell.

i always find heavy equipment on top of flimsy tables to be just the kind of dangerous people don’t respect enough. add the precarious standing position and this is a recipe for severe injury.
CarpetLikeCurtains
I’ve definitely done that before

Everyone else has been sure to inform you, but let me tell you my milk crate story. I was helping at a place for the summer, slow season, and I got a wild hair one night to clean their hood vents. Was standing on a milk crate leaning over a flat top of all fucking things, the milk crate shot out from under me while I was putting the grate up. I luckily didn’t fall on the grill, I did however lacerate the fuck outta my pinky on the hood grate. Probably my worst kitchen cut.
beebee2023
I totally get her as a prep cook at 5’0 but please get her a step stool. I hated standing on milk crates because they can be slippery.
katiuszka919
I’m 5’0 and this just resonated to levels of depth than cannot be explained
flamingknifepenis
I’m 99% sure I know her and worked with her in the past, but after scrolling through some of these comments I’m afraid to ask any questions to find out for sure. Some of you motherfuckers need Jesus.
If it’s who I think it is I hope you get her a proper step stool, because she’s good people.

Same here and I do not have this problem at work. This is so unsafe.
Fluffybudgierearend
Hey, your employer should make accommodations for having a short baker. They’ve taken on someone who’s too short for the setup and can’t exactly get rid of her (both legally and also that would be a dick move to say the least). For safety compliance reasons, you guys definitely need to get that stand mixer lowered for her
Forsaken-Spot4221
With a mixer designed to work well whe set on the floor, no less. Come on dude, get your baker a fucking step ladder or rearrange your baking station

Put the mixer on the milk crate. Problem solved.
On a serious note this is definitely improper use of a break room chair.

I see a load of comments about safety and using a milk crate but how about also putting the guard on the stand mixer and requiring hair to be tied back?

The amount of blatant OSHA violations in this one picture is infuriating. I hope she sues yall for everything you have or will ever have.

She’s trying her hardest, buy her a fucken stool. 5,1 ain’t even that short.

Come on, that’s clearly unsafe. Any good employer would provide her with a pair of 8 inch platform shoes
