Mettbrot mit zwiebeln was one of my go to breakfast for a bit in Germany. Delicious.

Damn straight. Mettwurst is an excellent allium vehicle choice too.

What does the raw pork taste like, I’ve always been fascinated by this dish. Do you season it? Is the texture difficult to get used to?

GERMAN detected – for your safety, please surrender your personal cache of onions for the community’s enjoyment

I’ve tried many wursts growing up with my German grandma, but I’ve never heard of mettwurst… 🤷🏻‍♀️

Adding that to my bucket list.

We have a version here in Texas that is more Czech based called parisa which is amazing. Been wanting to try mettwurst for comparisons sake.

Isn’t that true of most meat?

I’m American and raw pork here is a no no. This makes me queasy to think about but I’m glad you can enjoy it especially with tons of onions. Onions truly make everything better

If you ever visit Belgium, you should try “préparé”, it is seasoned raw beef. You can also get it unseasoned as “américaine”. So good with onions!
