How to make Garam Masala at home .
“Welcome to One Scoop Party! Today, we’re making a classic Indian spice blend: homemade garam masala. This aromatic mix of royal cumin, coriander, black and green cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaves, sesame, poppy seeds, stone flower, dry rose petals, Kashmiri red chilies, javitri, and star anise will elevate your dishes to the next level. We’ll roast these whole spices to release their full flavors, blend them into a fine powder, and store them in an airtight jar to keep them fresh. Let’s get started!”
Ingredients: ( Check all measurement in video )
1. Royal cumin seeds
2. Cumin seeds
3. Coriander seeds
4. Black peppercorns
5. Black cardamom pods
6. Green cardamom pods
7. Cloves
8. Cinnamon stick (2-3 inches)
9. Bay leaves
10. Fennel seeds (optional)
11. Sesame seeds
12. Poppy seeds
13. Stone flower (dagad phool)
14. Dry rose petals
15. Kashmiri red chilies
16. Javitri (mace)
17. Star anise
18. Nutmeg (optional, freshly grated)
Instructions
* Roast the Ingredients:
1. Heat a dry skillet over medium heat.
2. Add all the spices to the hot pan.
3. Toast the spices, stirring frequently, until they become fragrant (about 2-3 minutes). Be careful not to burn them.
* Cool the Ingredients:
1. Remove the skillet from heat.
2. Transfer the toasted spices to a plate or a bowl.
3. Let the spices cool completely.
*Blend the Ingredients:
1. Once the spices have cooled down, transfer them to a blender jar.
2. Blend the spices into a fine powder.
Store:
1. If you’re using nutmeg, grate it freshly and mix it with the blended spices.
Transfer the garam masala to an airtight container.
2. Store it in a cool, dark place. It will keep its flavor for several months.
