Imagine if there was a pretzel like this with the pillowy softness of a fresh Krispy Kreme donut, inside a crisp and buttery traditional laugen skin, full of a deep, rich, almost nutty, pretzel flavor.

When I lived in Germany there was a pretzel truck thing by the river that sold pretzels sliced horizontally and slathered with butter and topped with salami. Like a fat pretzel, butter and salami sandwich.
It’s one of the best things on earth.

In southern Germany they are a vehicle for butter 😀 Basic breakfast with a coffee!

These look delicious. I think you’ve said they’re sourdough? Do they come out as soft pretzels or crunchy pretzels?
It’s basically a soft cheese like Camembert mixed with butter and paprika. Only time I’ve had it was at the Chinese Tower Beer Garden in Munich with a giant pretzel. Was amazing.
