I do personally but I don’t think it’s for everyone. That meal looks rly good.

I would do that, yup, but if I was hungry I’d still snack on something. Don’t starve yourself or force yourself into waiting to eat because it leads to overeating.

yes, i do this too! I’ll have a protein bar if i need it, but I tend to wake up later in the day anyway since I work late evenings, so I don’t have to wait *too* long if I’m going out for dinner on a normal person’s schedule. caffeine helps too! (use that tip in moderation tho lol it will mess you up if you do it too often)

Honestly for myself, I have a protein coffee/hot cocoa (I have a sweet tooth I fear) in the morning and pick a lean meat and some veg for whatever meal I’m having at home before/after I go. I like to look at the menu beforehand and try to see the macros on what I’m craving so I can balance out the calories and protein around the meal in advance. As for fasting, sometimes the protein cocoa is filling enough due to the protein content so I just have that and then kind of do OMAD especially if the meal is big. Or sometimes, let’s say I go out for lunch, if it’s high volume enough I just eat half then and the other half for dinner. If I had it for dinner, I have lunch the next day. Then I kinda get two giant, generally balanced meals for one. Small changes like this have lost me 60 lbs so far but I’m still trying <3

No, I don’t like messing with restriction cycles. If it’s occasional I just eat normally and have a higher calorie meal and don’t worry about it and go back to normal the next day.

  6. If I had days like this fairly often then yes, I’d probably “Bank” calories. But honestly I don’t splurge on restaurant/decadent food that often so when I do I just let the day be the day! I would have to go absolutely insane for it to make any longterm difference on my goals/weight loss.

  7. No-Pollution1149

No because I am well aware that eating out in moderation isn’t gonna turn me into an episode of My 600lb Life. I don’t ever starve myself nor hold back calories for “later”. It’s just silly to me tbh…

  8. I think I would explode eating that much at one sitting after having eaten at 1200 for the better part of a year.

I usually just plan for 400 calories and call it good. Instead of fries, I get carrots and celery.

Would you have eaten that way before you started eating in a deficit? You don’t put on weight or lose it in a day. If you’re eating in a 500 cal deficit, a 1,000 cal restaurant meal would only be the equivalent of 2 days’ worth of deficit. Just eat normally that day and don’t sweat it so much.

  10. titaniumorbit

    Yes.

So I can actually enjoy a full 1000-1200cal dinner without worrying about going over. 1200 cal isn’t a lot when it comes to takeout. Most dishes are probably around there.

If I’m super hungry I’ll have a low calorie snack to hold me over.

  11. roxette_readz

I do sometimes! I intermittent fast 16:8 so not eating and just waiting can be easy. Buuut that day you can also decide to do less of a deficit, like do a 1400-1500 day instead of a 1200 cal day. You’ll still be in a deficit, but it’s not toooo bad and it wont be too off track or starving yourself 💕

  12. litttlejoker

Definitely not. That is too restrictive. I allow myself to eat at maintenance that day and have a high protein breakfast and lunch that are around 350 cals

I don’t go crazy at dinner. I try to indulge a bit but keep it in balance and calories in check. It’ll usually be around 800-1200 calories for my dinner at a restaurant.

  13. reality911

I usually do that and having sparkling water as well as my vitamins helps.

  14. treeriverbirdie

313 calories on ranch??!!!! Why not just eat half the ranch? That’s literally a third of your meal just on a dressing?

  15. schwidley

Ranch is not for wings. Blue cheese is the only acceptable dip for wings.

  16. Pretend_Comfort_7023

Yep, IF helps me a lot so I can eat more at meals

  17. nope, i rarely eat out so when i do i get whatever i want. i think having “normal” eating days is so important as long as it’s not regular enough to mess up my weight loss

  18. I am a huge fan of OMAD in general so it doesn’t make much of a difference for me

  19. chloeclover

No because it causes me to overeat at the restaurant. If anything I would eat a filling meal of vegetables before going to the restaurant, or at least a soup, salad, or apple.

  20. Mysterious_Emu_9092

I was going out for sushi the other day and just had some grilled chicken and veggies before hand so I wasn’t too hungry. I do IF so it doesn’t suck too much imo. Sushi is too high in calories it makes me so sad LOL

  21. anxiouslucy

I generally do. I’ll have my coffee in the morning (coffee + splash of cream), and try to hold out for dinner. I usually don’t eat until 1/2pm anyways, so it’s fairly easy. If I do feel too hungry, I’ll eat a couple small things. Maybe jerky, boiled eggs, a banana, etc. It sounds weird but I like the feeling of an empty stomach, especially when I’m working during the day, so I’ve always liked fasting. It makes the meal even better and makes me more grateful for it as well.

  22. Grose040791

Ill try to just eat small things during the day like an apple for breakfast and a protein shake for lunch or something and then only bee maybe 100 over my calories for the day. I work in healthcare so I try not to let myself get hangry and distracted as to not effect patient care lol

  23. Gloomy-Fan3025

I definitely do that but I know it’s not for everyone. Also, my fasting is very relaxed… I’ll usually have a venti cold brew coffee with a light splash of cream (no sugar), and an apple for a snack around lunch time… and then have dinner when I am out to eat so I can eat comfortably
