i gave this towel as a gift to a very strong friend who faced a lot of opposition in the last year and in the coming weeks, she will have finished her project and proved them fucking wrong. i promised to bake her any cake she wanted and she wanted one themed after this towel.
it will be a classic round cake, and i will be using buttercream frosting and some black icing or dark chocolate, no fondant. i will be replacing the text with something else so no need to advise about the lettering, just the flowers.
im thinking i should pipe the black outline and then buttercream on some freezer paper to get a flat design i can press into the cake, but that would only work for the top and not the rounded sides of the cake. another option is to paint the cake with palette knives and just go for the approximate vibe with multiple shades of flowers. i would love to know what you guys think would be best. she deserves the best cake i can possibly make!

I’m not a cake artist but I have to know where you got that towel.
Your frozen buttercream transfer idea is what came to my mind. You could use the same technique for the round sides as well by piping on and freezing the buttercream transfer on the same size round baking pan. This would be a bit tricky but would work. Another idea is to bring the flower design over the edge. Have the design continue over the top edge and randomly down the sides – the sides wouldn’t have the solid flower look like the top.

Something like this. Make some single transfer flowers and place them on the side
What if you did palette knife flowers and then piped the black on top with a super thin tip?
Can’t wait to see it.
