Took it home in 2019, use it almost every day. What’s your favorite stolen item?

Giant Acacia butchers block, took it home to re-finish the surface and nobody ever asked why it never came back. Way nicer than anything i could afford myself.

I have a whisk that I took from a job that I absolutely love, also a thermapen.

Got a couple of rolls of blue roll just before the pandemic hit and never thought I’d be so grateful for that stuff when all the selfish douchebags started buying up all the toilet toll. Bit scratchy on the butt but still.

Small immersion blender. Fuck you, Monty.

  5. I didn’t steal it, but I got one of those enmotion towel dispenser for my shop.

Easily the Vitamix. I don’t use it every day but because of that very reason, I would never want to spend the $ on a really good one.

I stole a few big bottles of pure vanilla extract when I left my last job. We also took several containers of laundry detergent and haven’t bought any personally in two years.

We were over worked, underpaid, lied to and cheated significantly out of a “guaranteed” bonus.

Its been four years since I snagged my aluminum foil and its still going strong!

I moved a microbrewery that ran out of money. They gave me all the kitchen equipment in trade. I don’t know, but I’ve heard after the fact that it wasn’t theirs to exchange. So I probably stole an entire restaurant kitchen. Now I have a salamander in my home kitchen.

The 50 back pocket towels I have get used a whole lot.

Not stolen, but I also have a roll of cling wrap from when I owned and operated a coffee shop in 2011.

Granted, I don’t use wrap very often (most of my containers have lids) but it’s like I haven’t even put a dent in it.

It’s the “Bakers & Chefs” brand that you get from Sams Club.

Scrubbies and towels for around the house, my beloved

Or if I’m in a tight position the toilet paper was a lifesaver

Tongs, quarter sheet pan and half hotel pan, steel mixing bowls.

I’ve got a 2 and 4 quart cambro but I actually bought those through a restaurant supply using our account.

A flat of avocados and fixings and took it directly to a birthday party and made guacamole for 30. Also took chips, obviously.

I have a 6″ Lodge that I accidentally failed to return after borrowing once…

  16. lavenderacid

The only thing I’ve ever taken was a whole frozen apple pie on my last day.

Not stolen but when I followed my Chef’s advice and left commercial cooking to have more family time, he gifted me his best knife set.
We still talk and compare ideas for recipes.

If im going to steal something it will be the vacuum packer, but i think I’ll have trouble sneaking that out.

  19. I was going to steal some of the more expensive kitchen utensils from work but decided it wasn’t worth the whisk

  20. FloppyDysk

I stole i whippit cracker when I was a barista lmao

I’ve been in the industry for over 25 years… The list is long, here’s a sample: tongs, hotel pans, butane cartridge stoves (and cartridges), foil, plastic, parchment, squeeze bottles, hot pads, cleaning chemicals, sharpies and pens, glassware, ramekins, and most of my kitchen, basement, and garage shelving is Metro that I’ve acquired over the years. I also have countless milk crates. A lot of it was during my catering years when forgotten equipment “ended up in my possession” like an eight-tier cupcake stand.
Shit, the longer I type the more I remember, I have le crust cast iron terrines and at some point had a berkel deli slicer.

I used to take one small item from every place. Apron, favorite spatty, just tiny souvenirs.

I really liked the owners at the place i worked at last, so I didn’t try to work them over too much. We did one time “knock over a 6 pack in the dry storage area (they also kept beer there before it would go out front). The scheme was, grab 5 empty bottles from the trash, screw caps back on and then put them in a new sixer with 1 full beer. Put the other 5 somewhere else and then knock the 5 empties and 1 beer on the floor. There’s beer on the floor, bunch or smashed glass and we get 5 beers to drink. Real greasy.

2 rolls of subway stamps when I was 16. Each one had around 300 foot long sandwiches on them.

  25. MiralParis

The key to the paper dispenser so I can turn the roll around in every toilet, workshop or kitchen when it annoys me because it hangs the wrong way round😂

  26. Puzzleheaded_Sea_851

Sharpies. Is there another true answer?

    Star chefs Portland like 2014 – 2015ish ?

Garry danko and all these fancy pants coming in at blue hour restaurant in pearl. Highland park whisky rep shows up with a case of highland 18 special reserve or limited or something which was expensive as fuck.

Guy tells bar it’s for the chefs. Bar brings it back and says it’s for the kitchen. All the line cooks peel out with thousands and thousands in expensive whisky (I got my 1 bottle). And we had a bottle under the line that seemed to regenerate itself for a month or too.

The fucking look on the reps face when he showed up the next day to give out to the actual fancy chefs and not all us shitheads in the back was funny as fuck. They tried to stick the restaurant with like a 20k bill I think lmfao.

asked us where it all was and we’re like lmao how long you think kitchen is hanging onto that on their shelves ? That shits all had somone swigging out of it lmao.
