Welcome Back to Episode 91 of All Things 🇬🇷 Greek! Today we are making AUTHENTIC GREEK BIFTEKI (AKA GREEK BURGER PATTIES)!

When you think of Greek food you probably think of the delicious Greek Chicken Gyros but has anyone ever introduced you to juicy, tender, fragrant AF, zesty and herby Bifteki. The texture is unlike any dry, dull, boring patty you’ve ever had. It’s hilarious to me that I only just started posting meat 10 months ago because I truly am the best at making the most tender and flavourful meals using any protein.

You’ll usually find these served with tzatziki, homemade olive oil pan-fried potatoes, a Greek salad and!!! fluffy pita. This type of Greek food defined and carved my childhood – I hope you enjoy it!

Servings 12 burger patties:

Ingredients:

1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
1 large white or yellow onions, grated
4 garlic cloves, pressed
1 egg
3/4 cup breadcrumbs
1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp fresh chopped parsley
1/4 cup fresh chopped mint
3 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
garnish with lemon juice and fresh herbs like mint

Instructions:

Prepare the burgers (biftekia): In a mixing bowl combine the ground beef, grated onion, pressed garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, olive oil, parsley, mint, salt and pepper. Mix together to fully combine. Divide the mixture into 12 portions and use your hands to form into burger-sized patties.
Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat, add a drizzle of olive oil or avocado oil, cook 3-4 burgers at a time, cooking 3-5 minutes per side until cooked through to your desired temperature.
Serve with lots of fresh herbs like mint and a squeeze of lemon juice.

  1. Wow looks delicious and really soft. My mother doesn't use bread crumbs but instead makes them on the oven with potatoes and turns out so good ! 🤍✨
