He has a cheap bbq grill from Walmart that is rusted and in pretty poor shape. He is always showing off his meat and fire cooking outside to his Facebook folks. Idk if this is the best gift but it’s what I think he could get into he’s tried to wood chip grill on the cheap Walmart grill it was interesting to say the least. He smoked chicken on it 😂
Do you think this makes a good Christmas gift and I was thinking of buying a brisket he can go smoke for Christmas dinner and gifting it to him early early Christmas morning since that takes 8-9 hours to cook according to the Traeger recipe site? He’s always talked about brisket. He used to be a meat man at a grocery store the guy loves meat but he’s way older than me and has diverticulitis now. But he still cheats and eats it. So I’m like being the bad devil on the shoulder by gifting him a meat smoker but I reckon it’s healthier than the local bbq restaurants he eats at maybe so he can control the cuts and salt.

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!
If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!
*What seasoning did you use?
*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?
*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?
Traeger on!

There’s a lot to these questions.
First thing find out if your husband wants a pellet smoker or charcoal.
If he wants a pellet smoker traeger is a great option not just saying that because I own one. For traeger the main options that separate them are size, if they have WiFi and temperature range. I personally don’t use my WiFi I don’t feel like I need to.
As far as buying goes I bought mine a 780 pro during Black Friday last year for $725 out the door. It’s typically a $1000 grill. If you have Costco in your area they also have really good sales on traeger at times you just have to be patient.
You can make all kinds stuff on this smoker. I wouldn’t bank on a 8-9 hour cook time with a brisket. It’s going to mostly depend on size, the temp you cook at and if you wrap it. My last brisket I started at midnight and cooked until about 4 pm.
Also funny username 🤣
I have a pro 34 and it works great. Doesn’t have wifi but I don’t think that’s needed, it has a knob you can use for the temperature control which makes it easy, just have to get up and go outside, which I enjoy doing. Also depending on how much you’re trying to smoke, you can get a smaller one for $400 ish out the door and that’s probably on the upper end of the price range. I have the bigger model and it was roughly $700 at Home Depot.
Keep an eye out for sales coming up in the next couple weeks, I got a pro 22 for 380 from Home Depot. Well worth it.
Ace has already started its Black Friday sales nationwide just fyi!
