Had this 97 vintage at a local Italian restaurant.
Very floral and toffee nose like an aged port. On the palate, tons of red berries and cherries. Not much acidity and tannins left so felt slightly imbalanced to me, perhaps woulda have been perfect 2-3 years ago.
Incredibly smooth and silky, extremely long finish. Drinks almost like a lighter port at this point.

Wow, what a bottle!
In fact, the 1999 was my single greatest wine experience. I had it in 2018, I believe. Shame this one didn’t live up to its potential in this case!
Hopefully, still a fun treat.
I’m jealous! I grab the Classico Superiore every time I see it, but I haven’t had the chance to try his fancier stuff. I’ll have to charge that based on your notes here.
